Wilson McLean

Wilson McLean PhD, EFCA, CWP, RYT

A lifelong learner, former university educator, and passionate world traveler, Wilson has spent decades on a mission: to discover what it truly means to live well, and to help others do the same. His journey has been shaped by personal health challenges, deep academic inquiry into creating thriving work cultures, and transformative experiences with wellness visionaries from around the world.

Wilson’s unique coaching style blends heart, science, and strategy. He empowers clients to take charge of their lives by strengthening executive function skills and mastering life management, laying down the vital foundations for a life of clarity, purpose, and resilience. Working with Wilson feels like “project management for your soul”, a guided, collaborative, and holistic process that meets you where you are and helps you rise.

Whether you’re seeking more focus, balance, or fulfillment, Wilson walks beside you as a compassionate ally and trusted guide, helping you unlock the energy and organization needed to flourish.

When he’s not coaching, Wilson finds peace in the gentle rhythms of classical guitar, the quiet joy of growing food in his garden, and the everyday beauty of being a devoted husband and father.

What executive function coaching covers

Wilson leads our MindWise Navigation program, which focuses on the practical skills that make daily life run more smoothly: planning and prioritizing, starting tasks and following through, managing time and transitions, organizing physical and digital spaces, regulating emotions under stress, and building routines that hold up when life gets busy. Sessions are conversational and hands-on. You leave each meeting with one or two concrete experiments to try before the next session, and the plan adjusts based on what actually worked for you rather than a one-size-fits-all system.

Who works with Wilson

Adults and older teens who feel chronically behind, professionals juggling too many moving parts, people rebuilding structure after a health setback, and anyone who wants a calmer, more organized relationship with their own time. Coaching is available in person at our Charlottesville clinic and online. Use the Book Now button to schedule a free consult or call 434-465-2905 to ask whether coaching is a good fit.

What a coaching session looks like

Sessions are conversational and practical. Together you pick one or two priorities, look at what tends to get in the way, and choose small experiments to try before the next meeting, such as a new planning routine, a simpler way to start hard tasks, or a reset for busy transitions. At the next session you review what worked and adjust the plan, so the system you build fits your real life rather than an ideal one.
