Why We Do This

Good Care Should Not Depend on a Good Insurance Plan

Transcending Health is a cash-pay clinic, and we know that puts some of our most effective services out of reach for neighbors who need them most. Rather than pretend otherwise, we built a nonprofit to close the gap.

The Unified Wellness Project brings together practitioners, educators, volunteers and community organizations to make preventive health practical and available to everyone. Its three pillars are simple: Connect people with providers and resources, Empower them with education that encourages lifelong healthy habits, and Transform the community through sustainable initiatives that reduce barriers to care.

The clinic's weekend sliding-scale sessions and Community Support coaching are how that mission shows up on Rio Road every week.

“Blown away by Keanen’s knowledge of both anatomy and kinesiology. He knew how and where to find the source of my tension and got straight to that source. He’s got extremely strong hands for those of us who need deep tissue. I’m going back, hidden gem!”

Frequently Asked Questions

Community Wellness FAQs

What is the Unified Wellness Project?

A Charlottesville-based nonprofit founded in October 2025 by Drew Edmondson, the founder of Transcending Health. Its mission is accessible health education, preventive wellness and community initiatives, summed up in its motto: Connect. Empower. Transform. Wellness Without Barriers.

How does the sliding-scale clinic work?

On Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 12pm the clinic runs a drop-in community session. You choose what you can contribute, starting at a $5 minimum donation, for services such as the immersive sound lounge, Rife frequency therapy, chair massage, cupping, acupuncture and focus cryo. Every contribution supports the Unified Wellness Project.

What is a Community Support coaching session?

A 30-minute one-on-one wellness coaching session for $75 (half the length of a standard coaching hour). The proceeds go to the Unified Wellness Project, so booking one funds community health education while you get personal guidance on movement, nutrition, sleep or stress.

Do I need to qualify or show income to use the sliding scale?

No. There is no paperwork or income check. The weekend clinic is open to anyone in the community; you simply contribute what you can, with a $5 minimum.

Can I donate or volunteer without booking a session?

Yes. You can give directly through the Unified Wellness Project website, and the nonprofit welcomes volunteers, educators and partner organizations for its education and outreach programs.

Is the sliding-scale clinic the same as a regular appointment?

No. Weekend community sessions are drop-in, shorter and focused on a few accessible services. For a full evaluation, corrective exercise program, SoftWave or a 60-minute massage, book a standard appointment during regular hours.
