Meet our team of passionate healers and learn about the expertise that makes Transcending Health unique.

Melanie Pawlyszyn, L.Ac., Dipl.OM, is a licensed acupuncturist, herbalist and energy medicine facilitator who supports healing through a whole-person, integrative lens. Drawing from Traditional Chinese Medicine, Five Element Theory, family systems work and vibrational medicine research, she helps clients address both the physical and emotional roots of imbalance with clarity and compassion.
In her treatments, Melanie blends classical acupuncture with subtle energy practices and light therapy activation patches that enhance the body’s natural healing ability. She specializes in supporting individuals experiencing pain connected to complex trauma, concussion, chronic headaches and nervous system dysregulation—creating a grounded and supportive environment for release and restoration.
Melanie earned her Master in Science degree in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder and is nationally board-certified through the NCCAOM. With over a decade of experience in integrative and oriental modalities, she is committed to helping each person access their innate capacity for transformation, resilience and wellbeing.
A first acupuncture visit begins with a conversation about your health history, sleep, digestion, stress and the specific pain or symptoms that brought you in. Melanie then uses pulse and tongue assessment alongside that conversation to choose the points and techniques for the day. Needles are very fine, and most people describe the sensation as a brief tap followed by warmth or heaviness rather than pain. You rest with the needles in place for roughly twenty to thirty minutes in a quiet, dimly lit room, and many people fall asleep.

She draws on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Five Element Theory to look at both the physical and emotional roots of imbalance. Some treatments also use light therapy activation patches alongside classical acupuncture. Your plan is built around your goals, and Melanie will explain how many visits she suggests and how you will both judge progress.
Sessions take place at 1445 Rio Road East, Suite 201 F, Charlottesville. Acupuncture is $150 for an initial visit with evaluation and $130 for return visits.
