Private yoga is a one-on-one session built around you. Your instructor shapes the practice to your goals, your body, and your experience level. The aim is better mobility, strength, balance, breath awareness, and calm.
A group class has to work for everyone in the room. A private session works for you. It can focus on mobility, stress relief, strength, nervous system regulation, recovery, or a mix.
At Transcending Health, yoga is more than a workout. It ties movement, breath, and attention together. We care less about advanced poses and more about progress you can carry into daily life.
Yoga began in ancient India as a practice that joined movement, breath control, meditation, and self-awareness. Over time it grew into many schools and styles.
As yoga spread around the world, it moved into wellness, rehab, sports, and stress management settings. Today it is both a traditional practice and a modern therapeutic tool.
Movement, breath, and attention shape each other. Tension changes how you breathe. Stress changes how you stand and move. Stiffness limits what you can do.
Private sessions use postures, breathing exercises, mobility work, and relaxation to work on all three at once. Your instructor watches how you move and adjusts in real time. That means fewer bad habits and faster progress.
At Transcending Health, private yoga pairs with corrective exercise, mobility training, massage, breathwork, and nervous system care. Sessions are led by experienced instructors, including Drew Edmondson, who is certified in Kundalini and Vinyasa yoga. Sessions run 60 minutes ($150) and are available at the clinic or online.
Research on yoga covers flexibility, balance, strength, back pain, stress, sleep, and mood. Many studies report benefits in these areas. Results depend on the style, the teacher, and how often you practice.
Private yoga may help if you are new to yoga and want a safe start, have an injury or limitation that makes group classes hard, want to work on a specific goal, or prefer focused attention. Athletes, desk workers, and people in recovery all use it.
Tell your instructor about injuries, surgeries, pregnancy, blood pressure issues, or anything that affects how you move. Poses can always be adapted. If you have a medical condition, check with your provider before starting a new practice.
You will move, breathe, and rest at a pace that fits you. Afterward, most people feel looser, calmer, and more aware of their body. Some mild soreness the next day is normal when you are new. You will leave with a few things to practice at home.
Private yoga supports mobility, strength, breath, and calm. It complements massage, corrective exercise, breathwork, and nervous system work. It is a practice you own, and that is the point.
No. Flexibility is a result of practice, not a requirement for it. We meet you where you are and build from there.
Comfortable clothes you can move in. We have mats, blocks, and straps at the studio. For online sessions, you just need a mat and a little floor space.
Once a week is a strong start. Many people pair a weekly private session with short home practice. Your instructor will give you a plan that fits your schedule.
Often, yes. Your instructor can adapt every pose and work around what hurts. If you are under a doctor's care, check with them first and let us know what they said.
