Gentle Work for Tissue That Will Not Let Go
Fascial counterstrain is a hands-on technique that works with the fascia, the connective tissue that wraps your muscles, nerves, blood vessels and organs. When an area is irritated or injured, the surrounding tissue can tighten up and stay protective long after the original problem has passed.
Instead of pushing harder into that tension, your therapist finds the tender spots, then gently moves your body into a position where the tissue is slack and comfortable. Each position is held for a short time while the area softens. There is no deep pressure, cracking or forceful stretching.
Many people describe it as surprisingly relaxing. It can be a good option for sensitive bodies, long-standing pain, or anyone who finds deep tissue massage too intense.
Meet Yeda Vaccari
Yeda is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Licensed Acupuncturist. He trained in massage at the Northwest Academy for the Healing Arts and earned his Master's in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. Discovering fascial counterstrain in his final year of study changed how he understood the body's ability to heal and realign itself, and it is now at the center of his work.
His sessions blend fascial counterstrain with trauma-informed care, so the pace always stays within what feels safe for you. Because Yeda is also an acupuncturist, he can combine both approaches in one care plan when that makes sense.

Fascial Counterstrain FAQs
What is fascial counterstrain?
It is a gentle, hands-on technique that places the body in specific positions of comfort and holds them briefly so guarded, tense tissue can relax. It works with the fascia that surrounds muscles, nerves, blood vessels and organs.
How much does it cost?
A 75-minute fascial counterstrain session is $180. Members save 5 to 15 percent, and CareCredit is accepted.
Does it hurt?
It is one of the gentlest forms of manual therapy. Your therapist may press lightly on tender points to find them, but the treatment itself happens in comfortable positions.
How is it different from deep tissue massage?
Deep tissue massage uses firm pressure to work into tight muscle. Fascial counterstrain does the opposite: it shortens and supports the tissue so it can release without force.
How many sessions will I need?
That depends on how long the issue has been present and how your body responds. Yeda will suggest a sensible next step after your first visit.
When should I see a doctor first?
Seek medical evaluation for new severe pain, trauma, weakness, numbness, fever, unexplained swelling or other concerning symptoms. Manual therapy does not diagnose or replace medical care.
